The New Zealand Police force is the lead agency responsible for reducing crime and enhancing community safety in New Zealand. They provide services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and operate from more than 400 community-based police stations. They are staffed with over 10,300 employees and run by land, sea, and air.
Their police force responds to more than 600,000 emergency (111) calls each year. They are involved in crime prevention and response.
DCG was hired to establish a theft-proof identification and management system for their police force. At that time, it was pretty easy and quite common for individuals to counterfeit police badges and identification cards.
In turn, DCG developed a specific software used to create both identification cards and badges that were theft/counterfeit-proof. The badges developed consisted of several shades of lights which were not visible to the naked, the only appeared when used with customized equipment. In
addition to the development of the software, DCG also provided the New Zealand Police Department with all the necessary equipment needed to both print and check both identification cards and badges.
As a result, the identity theft of police officers was reduced by 100%, and no such cased of Counterfeits have been reported to this date.
